  • • What is acupuncture?
    Acupuncture is a healing method using needles and/or moxibustion developed by the Chinese thousands of years ago.
  • • How does it work?
    There are many theories but no certain answer that everyone agrees upon. However the ancient text on acupuncture describes a balance and manipulation of Qi and meridians on the body as the foundation of treatment.
  • • Does it hurt?
    Depending on the sensitivity of the person, the location of the needle and manipulation and skill of the acupuncturist, needling could be painful to some and not at all to others. In general a minimal amount of sensation is experienced. Any acupuncturist promising no pain is being unrealistic.
  • • Are there any scientific bases to Acupuncture?
    There has been much research in to effectiveness of acupuncture. And also researches into the existence of meridians and acupoints. Though the exact mechanism of acupuncture remains unknown the healing effects of acupuncture is undeniable.
  • • How many needles are you going to stick in me?
    A competent acupuncturist will rarely need more than 10 needles for treatment. There are different styles of treatment and some situations can call for more needles but in general no more than 10 needles are needed.
  • • Is acupuncture dangerous?
    No, acupuncture is a relatively safe procedure. There have been accidents in its long history but it usually involves extreme malpractice or extraordinary circumstances.
  • • If I get acupuncture do I live forever?
    No, but you will live a longer and healthier life.

    We offer acupuncture treatment as well as cupping, gua sha, tui na, and other common traditional Chinese medicine methods. At CHC we use fewer needles with less pain. Our patients trust us to give them honest assessments and would never keep them coming with unrealistic promises. Our session usually last about 1hr.

    Please call ahead to schedule an appointment. Due to a high volume of patients please try calling within 24hrs to cancel if you can not make your appointment.
